Our organic raw hemp seed hearts are carefully selected from sustainably grown hemp plants in Romania. During the harvesting the smaller seeds are donated to oil and protein powder production leaving the largest and plumpest seeds to move on to be gently dehydrated at low temperatures (below 118°F), dehulled and split in half. Once the seeds have their hulls removed their nutritional content increases by up to 40%, bringing their total protein content up to 30%. Although it is the oil content of hemp seed hearts that is particularly desirable, the essential fatty acid profile of this remarkable little seed contains omega 6 to omega 3 essential fatty acids in what Dr. Udo Erasmus states is "an ideal long term ratio". Essential fatty acids are so called because we cannot produce these in the body, so they must be obtained from foods.
Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which is an omega 3 essential fatty acid contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels. Our hemp seed hearts contain a source of calcium, potassium, magnesium, vitamin A and vitamin E (see nutrient chart tab for values).

How to use:
Hemp seed hearts can be sprinkled on salads, porridge and mueslis, made into raw seed milks and butters, added to smoothies and used in baking. They have a vibrant nutty flavour and a very soft crunchy texture.
Average serving size: 10-15 grams (2-3 teaspoons) through out the day, to improve how your body absorbs the omega oils (essential fatty acids) use with a teaspoon of sunflower or non-gmo soy lecithin.
As with introducing all new foods, start small and work your way up over a period of time that feels best for you as an individual. A small serving would be equal to half a teaspoon.
